- 3M Scotchlite Reflective®
- Reflective trim provides high visibility at night.
- ABZORB®
- A special feature providing maximum shock absorbency while resisting compression.
- Blown Rubber
- 40% lighter than solid rubber; the addition of air makes for a softer, more cushioned
landing.
- C-Cap®
- EVA molded under pressure provides a firm, cushioned midsole that is lightweight.
- Carbon Rubber
- The addition of carbon to rubber yields an exceptionally long wearing, abrasion
resistant outsole material.
- CoolMax
- A 100% spun polyester found in New Balance apparel that wicks
moisture away from the skin and accelerates evaporation.
- Counter Reinforcer™
- A polyurethane motion control devise that cups the heel and provides rear-foot motion
control. Because it is extended on the medial side of the shoe, it offers special
protection for the over-pronator.
- Delfy
- A Mircoporous Coating used on some apparel forming an integral part
of the fabric to achieve superior moisture permeability, water and
windproofness.
- dryworks™
- Dunham Bootmakers' exclusive guaranteed waterproof moisture
management system that combines a waterproof seam-sealed leather
upper with an internal moisture vapor transfer chamber, keeping feet
dry and comfortable.
- Dunham Waterproof
- Dunham Bootmakers combine a premium waterproof leather upper and
seals all stitched seams in a two-step process. Each seam is
chemically primed and sealed with a rubber based cement.
- Encap®
- A cushioning core of EVA is encapsulated within a shell of polyurethane which adds
stability and disperses shock.
- Flex Grooves
- Anatomically designed grooves provide forefoot flexibility.
- Footbed Construction
- A shoe's inside footbed which affects stability, flexibility and
weight.
- Graphite Rollbar
- A lightweight flat or molded piece of graphite material biochemically positioned in the
midsole which maximized rearfoot stability.
- Indy 500 Plus Max®
- A type of carbon rubber used in high-wear areas of some New Balance court shoe outsoles.
- Lycra
- A fiber found in New Balance apparel that is capable of stretching
up to 500% and bouncing back.
- Medial Post
- A medial wedge of higher than normal density C-Cap midsole material extending from the
heel to the first metatarsal head which provides pronation control.
- Metatarsal Pad
- A softer durometer EVA under the ball of the foot providing added cushioning.
- Pronation
- The normal inward motion of a foot during the running gait. Excessive inward motion is
referred to as over-pronation. Supenation (under-pronation) is the result of a lack of
normal inward motion.
- Q4
- A coated Ultra-light Microfiber found in some New Balance apparel
that has a higher water and wind resistance than Q13.
- Q13
- Ultra-lightweight Microfiber Polyester found in some New Balance
apparel that features the best in performance breathability and wind
resistance with a greater water repellency.
- Rollbar Stability System®
- A firm, lightweight, biochemically designed structure in the midsole that provides
superior stability and motion control.
- Removable Insert
- Molds to the foot and provides extra cushioning and comfort. Removable to accommodate
orthodics.
- Running Gait
- The motion of the foot and leg during running consisting of pre-impact, impact, and
toe-off.
- Shoe Last
- The anatomic form used to construct shoes.
- Supenation
- An under-rotation of the foot inward during the running gait.
- Supplex®
- A fine Denier filament nylon found in New Balance apparel that is
lightweight, durable and quick drying.
- Sympatex
- Provides a waterproof, breathable and temperature regulated upper
for shoes.
- Tactel
- A family of silky-soft nylons found in New Balance apparel that are
quick-drying, water and wind resistant, lightweight and breathable.
- Technofine
- Polyester filament with a unique "W" shaped modified
cross-section fiber. Featuring a greater than 150% water absorption
rate than any other polyester by utilizing the capillary action of the
smooth inner surface fibers then pushing moisture to the outer surface
for a greater evaporation rate.
- T.P.U. Post
- A stability devise made of thermoplastic urethane placed medially in the heel of the
midsole to add pronation control and/or laterally to control supination.
- TRU-TRAK®
- An exclusive outsole traction technology from Dunham Bootmakers that
consists of a multi-directional tread configuration with maximum
surface contact for performance.
- Tuff-Lite™
- An exclusive comfort technology from Dunham Bootmakers that combines
a multi-density midsole with TRU-TRAK® rubber
outsoles for all-day comfort and superior traction.
- Waterproof Nubuck Leathers
- Found on selected men's casual shoes, these specially treated leathers are soft,
breathable and 100% waterproof.
- Width Sizing
- New Balance is still the only major athletic shoe company in the world that builds a
complete line of shoes in a full range of widths (AA to EEEE).
- Xar-3000
- A type of carbon rubber used in high-wear areas of some New Balance running shoe
outsoles.
- Zeonite
- An exceptionally durable material used in the heel pad of the some running shoes
(M1600).
